1958 State Championship recap
Bellefonte pulled out an extra inning win in the semifinal round. Rod Mitchell was the hero for Bellefonte. His two-run double in the fifth broke a scoreless tie, and, after Mill Creek-Seneca forced extra innings by scoring two in the bottom of the sixth, Mitchell's three-run homer again broke the tie. Winning pitcher Gary Kellogg struck out 13 for Bellefonte.
In the state championship Bellefonte rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge Jessup Carbino in the state championship game. Jessup pitcher Hank Zeino took a perfect game into the sixth inning, and teammate Bob Cicci's homer had given Jessup a 1-0 lead. In the sixth, however, Bill Foresman and Charley Fletmake drew walks, and pinch hitter John Sodergren doubled down the rightfield line to tie the game. One out later, Rod Mitchell lofted a sacrifice fly to right field that plated Sodergren with the winning run.1958 Bellefonte All Star RosterRodney MitchellWilliam ForesmanLarry ConawayGarry KelloggMichael Ranio Jr.Dennis LeathersThomas CraterThomas GribDanny KahleBarry BurgerRonald HowardJohn SodergrenDennis LoseCharles Fletemaker Jr.ManagersHarold RossmanRussell Haupt
