BLL Covid-19 Coronavirus Update

Good evening Bellefonte Little League Parents, Sponsors, and Friends,

As some of you may be aware, Little League International has recently updated their guidance as far as when activity of any kind can occur based on the social distancing protocols due to the Covid-19 virus outbreak. First things first; our collective hearts go out to anyone negatively affected by this crisis in any way. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Little League International now strongly recommends that no activity of any kind take place before May 11th, 2020. This includes practices, games, or any organized activities.

At an emergency board meeting held this evening, the Bellefonte Little League Board of Directors voted to fully align with their recommendation. There will be no activities permitted prior to May 11th. I repeat, there are to be no organized activities prior to May 11th. Apart from our own worries about the situation and federal, state, and local governments all insisting we socially distance ourselves, there is also the matter of our insurance. Our league is simply an add on to the blanket policy held by Little League International. As such, we cannot go outside of the scope of their recommendations.

The lone exception will be a chicken BBQ fundraiser scheduled for 4/18/20. This will be a simple meal pick up in the field 1 parking lot for folks that have purchased tickets. We still have over 100 tickets left so PLEASE reach out if you’d like some!!

The Board of Directors did not make this decision lightly. We are fully aware of how important Little League is to our players (particularly our 12yr olds), our parents, our sponsors, and our community as a whole. We are still waiting to hear Little League’s plan for the World Series tournament, and how it will affect our ability to play after May 11th. You have our commitment to do everything we can to safely get the kids on a ball field in 2020, and our season will take precedence over everything else.

Please stay tuned for further updates on our website and Facebook page, and pray we can get some baseball in this season soon!! Additionally, the little league international website has an FAQs section on the delay.

Please stay safe everyone, we deeply care about all of you.
